The IR transmitter module is used for infrared communication, commonly to control devices such as televisions at close range and line of sight. If line of sight is not possible, IR extenders can be used that capture the IR signal and transmit it via radio waves to the remote party, which emulates the original IR control. Infrared receivers have a limited angle of operation, but this can be widened by using a transparent matte object in front of the receiver.
