The MCP23017/MCP23S17 is a 16-bit I/O expander ideal for increasing the number of input/output ports on a microcontroller. It supports high-speed I2C interfaces up to 1.7 MHz and SPI up to 10 MHz. It includes configurable interrupt pins, a polarity inversion register, and low standby power consumption. With a DIL 28-pin package (DIP 28p), it integrates easily into systems. It operates between 1.8V and 5.5V with a temperature range from -40°C to 125°C, supporting up to eight devices on a bus.
