The SWITCHTRONIX RL3A542 is a conventional electromechanical relay with a 12 V DC coil and a DPDT contact arrangement providing two changeover contact sets (2 Form C). Each pole has a normally open (NO) and a normally closed (NC) contact; when the coil is energised, both poles transfer to their alternative state.
The contacts are rated at 8 A at 250 V AC. The 12 V DC coil has a resistance of 360 Ω ±10 % and a power rating of 400 mW. Pick-up voltage is no more than 75 % of the rated voltage and release voltage no more than 5 %. Maximum pick-up time is 15 ms and maximum release time is 8 ms.
The relay has an operating temperature range of −40 to 85 °C. The documentation specifies a dielectric strength of 5 000 V AC for 1 min between the coil and contacts and 2 500 V AC for 1 min between contact groups, together with a minimum mechanical life of 10 000 000 operations.
