The SWITCHTRONIX RL3A512 is a conventional electromechanical relay with a 12 V DC coil and one SPDT changeover contact (1 Form C). The contact arrangement comprises one normally open (NO) and one normally closed (NC) contact; when the coil is energised, the common contact transfers between the two positions to control the load.
The model has a nominal contact rating of 12 A at 250 V AC. The coil has a resistance of 360 Ω ±10 % and a power rating of 400 mW, with a maximum pick-up time of 15 ms and a maximum release time of 8 ms.
The documentation specifies a dielectric strength of 5 000 V AC for 1 min between the coil and contacts and 2 500 V AC for 1 min between contacts. The operating temperature range is −40 to 85 °C and the mechanical life is at least 10 000 000 operations.
