This 2.4-inch TFT LCD touchscreen module for Arduino UNO R3 provides a compact way to add a full-colour graphical display and touch-based user interface to Arduino electronics projects. The TFT panel has a 240 × 320 pixel resolution and is driven by the ILI9341 controller IC, making it suitable for embedded projects that require graphical information rather than a basic character display.
The display uses 18-bit colour and can reproduce up to 262,000 different shades. This enables the module to show menus, virtual controls, sensor readings, status indicators, graphics and other visual information. Its 2.4-inch diagonal size makes it particularly suitable for compact control panels, prototypes, test equipment and educational electronics projects where PCB and enclosure space may be limited.
User input is provided through a 4-wire resistive touchscreen. Resistive touch technology responds to pressure applied to the display surface, allowing developers to create buttons and other interactive areas within the graphical interface. Display and user input can therefore be combined in a single module, reducing the need for separate physical controls in applications where touchscreen operation is appropriate.
The display incorporates a four white-LED backlight to illuminate the TFT panel. The backlight is switched on by default, while the associated transistor can be connected to a digital pin when software-controlled backlight operation is required. This provides additional flexibility for projects where display illumination needs to be managed by the Arduino.
Communication uses an 8-bit digital interface together with four control lines. When installed with an Arduino UNO R3, the module uses digital pins 5 to 13 and analogue inputs A0 to A3. Digital pins 2 and 3 and analogue inputs A4 and A5 therefore remain available for other parts of the project. Digital pin 12 can also be available when the microSD is not being used.
The module is compatible with both 3.3 V and 5 V logic and is intended for use with the Arduino UNO R3. These characteristics make it useful when developing a compact embedded interface capable of both presenting graphical information and accepting commands from the user.
Typical applications for this Arduino TFT touchscreen display include sensor monitoring interfaces, control panels, measurement displays, automation projects, data visualisation and educational electronics. Compared with a basic alphanumeric LCD, the graphical resolution, colour capability and touchscreen provide considerably greater freedom when designing menus, indicators and interactive controls for an Arduino-based system.
