tesa® 51408 is a polyimide tape with silicone adhesive specially designed for applications and processes that work with high temperatures or aggressive chemicals and where it is required to protect or mask certain areas.
tesa ® 51408 is used for various applications, especially for wave soldering, thermal insulation and cable protection, as well as masking during powder coating processes where the tape allows for crisp edges and offers excellent paint anchoring.
The silicone adhesive of the polyimide tape makes the tape extremely heat resistant, withstanding extreme temperatures up to 260°C in continuous applications.
tesa® 51408 polyimide tape is also available in a version with a protector for better die-cutting.
Main characteristics:
Resistance to high temperatures (up to 260°C)
High chemical resistance and dielectric strength.
Conformable, thanks to its support.
It is removed without residue on masking applications.
Main applications:
Electrical and thermal insulation. Example: wiring
Masked at high temperatures. Example: electroplating or wave soldering of electronic components
Masking of 3D printer tables
Protection of cells during the manufacture of lithium batteries
