The PHASAK Kryptos PH 9478 is an 800 VA / 480 W line-interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS). It provides temporary power and protection for computers, monitors, network equipment, NAS systems and other compatible electronic devices during power cuts, short interruptions and other mains disturbances.
Its 6 Schuko sockets are divided into two functional groups. Three sockets provide battery backup, EMI filtering, line correction and surge protection. The remaining three provide surge protection only and are not powered by the battery when the mains supply fails. This arrangement allows battery capacity to be reserved for equipment that needs to remain powered during an outage.
When operating on battery power, the UPS provides a 220–240 V AC output at 50/60 Hz ± 1 % with a modified sine wave. Transfer time is 2–6 ms.
The unit uses a 12 V / 5 Ah VRLA AGM battery. The specified charging time to reach 90 % is 8 h. Cold start, automatic recharging and automatic restart are also supported.
The LCD displays input and output voltage, connected load level and battery capacity. Audible alarms indicate battery operation, low battery, overload and fault conditions.
For monitoring, the UPS provides USB HID communication. It also includes RJ45 and coaxial line protection together with a 5 V / 2 A USB charging output.
The PH 9478 is intended for electronic equipment that requires protection from mains disturbances and, for priority devices, temporary battery-backed operation during a power failure.
The three battery-backed sockets should be reserved for equipment that needs to remain powered during an outage. The other three sockets are suitable for peripherals that require surge protection but do not need battery backup.
The UPS should be installed indoors in a dry, adequately ventilated location away from water, direct sunlight and heat sources. Ventilation openings must not be obstructed, and the unit should be connected to an accessible earthed mains socket.
Before first use, the manufacturer recommends leaving the UPS connected for at least 6 h to charge the battery. Loads that could exceed the UPS capacity should not be connected to the battery-backed sockets. The manual specifically identifies laser printers as an example of equipment that may cause an overload; peripherals that do not require battery backup can use the surge-protection-only sockets.
The internal battery can maintain potentially dangerous voltages even when the UPS is disconnected from the mains. Repairs and battery replacement should be carried out by qualified personnel in accordance with the manufacturer's safety precautions, using the same quantity and type of battery.
The manufacturer classifies this UPS as a Category C2 product. In a residential environment it may cause radio interference requiring additional measures.
