The TP-Link TL-WA854RE V4 is a Wi-Fi repeater or range extender for 2.4 GHz wireless networks. Supporting IEEE 802.11b/g/n, it extends an existing wireless network into areas where the router signal is weak or cannot provide sufficient coverage, with wireless signal rates of up to 300 Mbps using 802.11n.

In Range Extender mode, the TL-WA854RE connects wirelessly to the main router to extend its coverage. It works with standard wireless routers and can be configured using WPS, the web interface or the TP-Link Tether app. The signal-strength indicator helps users choose a location that maintains a suitable connection to the router.

Hardware version V4 also supports Access Point mode and includes one 10/100 Mbps RJ45 Ethernet port. It has two internal antennas and provides access control, wireless radio enable/disable, LED control, power scheduling and Wi-Fi coverage adjustment.

The advertised rate of up to 300 Mbps is the maximum physical wireless signal rate rather than a guaranteed usable throughput. Actual performance and coverage depend on factors including building materials and obstacles, interference, network traffic, extender placement and the capabilities of connected devices.

Typical applications:
