The OSRAM QTP-OPTIMAL 2X18…40 is non-dimmable electronic control gear (ECG), also commonly referred to as an electronic ballast, for operating two compatible fluorescent or compact fluorescent lamps. It supplies and controls the lamps at high frequency and uses optimum filament preheating during start-up.
It operates at a nominal voltage of 220…240 V. The specified input range is 198…264 V AC and 176…276 V DC, allowing use in DC-powered emergency lighting systems when the installation complies with the conditions specified by the manufacturer. The specified starting time is 1.5 s.
The preheating system provides controlled lamp starting and is suitable for applications involving frequent switching. The control gear can be used in installations operated by motion detectors and automatically restarts after a lamp has been replaced.
Automatic safety shutdown is provided for defective lamps and at end of lamp life by the EOL T.2 system. This prevents continued lamp operation when the control gear detects an end-of-life condition covered by this protection system.
It is suitable for protection class I and II luminaires. The control gear itself is protection class I, has a metal casing and an IP20 ingress protection rating. It can operate at an ambient temperature of −20…+50 °C, with a maximum permitted temperature of 75 °C at the tc point.
Typical applications include industrial lighting, offices, corridors, storage rooms, public buildings, sports halls, factories, strip lighting and the modernisation of existing lighting systems. It is also suitable for emergency lighting systems subject to the installation and operating conditions specified by the manufacturer.
