Cyanoacrylate adhesive for rubber and plastics
Medium viscosity
Slightly longer hardening
WEICON Contact VA 100 is a universal type used for bonding metals, plastics and rubber, with each other or with itself. VA 100 is ideally suited for "Do it yourself" cases, but it can also be applied in numerous industrial fields.
Surface preparation:
To obtain a perfect adherence, the surfaces to be bonded must be clean and dry (clean and degrease with WEICON Surface Cleaner). Smooth surfaces must be mechanically sanded. For better adhesion on difficult-to-bond plastics (eg PE, PP, POM, PTFE), thermoplastic elastomers and silicones, WEICON CA Primer can be applied to the surface.
Processing:
WEICON Contact Cyanoacrylate Adhesive is applied to one side only of the surfaces to be bonded.
To ensure complete drying, the thickness of the adhesive layer should be between min. 0.05mm and max. 0.2 mm (depending on the type).
In large-area joints, WEICON Contact Cyanoacrylate Adhesive must be applied at points to avoid internal stresses.
WEICON Contact Cyanoacrylate Adhesive is very economical. One drop is sufficient for a surface of approx. 3 to 5 cm².
The parts to be joined must be bonded at a relative humidity of between 40% and 80%. If the humidity is less than 40%, hardening is considerably delayed or does not take place. If the humidity is greater than 80% or if very basic substrates (eg glass) are involved, there is a danger of shock hardening. Certain materials exhibit in these cases a reduction in strength due to stresses in the adhesion layer of 10% to 15%.
Basic reaction surfaces accelerate hardening, acid reaction surfaces retard and, in extreme cases, may completely suppress polymerization.
