WEICON Flex+bond® 10049792 is a one-component elastic MS polymer adhesive and sealant, supplied in white in an 85 ml pack. It combines strong adhesion with permanently elastic bonding and cures by reaction with atmospheric moisture.
It can be used to bond and seal a wide range of materials, including metal, wood, plastics, glass and ceramics, either to the same material or in mixed-material assemblies. It is suitable for elastic bonding and sealing in industrial applications where the joint needs to accommodate movement or deformation.
Flex+bond® is weather-resistant, UV-stable, ageing-resistant and resistant to salt water. Once cured, its specified temperature resistance is −40 to +90 °C. The formulation is free from silicone, isocyanates, halogens and solvents. It is ISEGA-certified and the manufacturer states that it can be used as an adhesive in food technology.
Surfaces must be clean and free from grease, oil, dust and other contamination. Depending on the substrate and the demands placed on the bond, an adhesion promoter (primer) may be recommended. Mechanical preparation by sanding or blasting can also significantly improve adhesion.
Application should take place between +5 and +40 °C and at 30 to 95% relative humidity. Components should be joined before the first skin forms on the adhesive. For this white version, the skin-over time is 25 min. Cure rate during the first 24 hours is 2 to 3 mm.
The material can only be painted using a wet-on-wet process, no later than 3 hours after application. It can be used for sealing joints up to 25 mm wide and can bridge gaps up to 5 mm.
Applications: elastic bonding and sealing of metal, wood, plastic, glass and ceramic components; joining dissimilar materials; joint sealing; industrial assembly, maintenance and production; and applications exposed to weather, UV radiation or salt water where the service conditions are compatible with the product specifications.
Store in the unopened original container at room temperature and protect from direct sunlight. The stated minimum shelf life is 18 months. Before use, the current safety data sheet and the applicable physical, toxicological, environmental and safety information must be observed. For critical applications or particular substrates, suitability and adhesion should be verified by appropriate preliminary testing.
