The PTF/45 is a PCB fuse holder designed to accommodate standard 5 x 20 mm cartridge fuses. It is intended for direct printed circuit board mounting, allowing fuse protection to be incorporated within electrical and electronic equipment while providing a shock-safe construction designed to reduce accidental contact with the fuse assembly.
The fuse holder has a rated voltage of 250 VAC. Under UL 512 + C22.2 No. 39, the specified rated current is 10 A. Within the EN 60127-6 information, the 10 A current rating is marked as pending. This distinction should be considered when selecting the component for equipment where compliance with a particular standard or approval is required.
The insulating housing is manufactured from PBT rated UL 94 V-0, making it suitable for use as an insulating component within electrical and electronic assemblies. The specified permissible ambient temperature range is -30 °C to +85 °C, allowing the device to be incorporated into equipment operating across a broad range of environmental temperatures, subject to the electrical and thermal limits stated by the manufacturer.
For protection against electric shock, the PTF/45 is classified as Shocksafe category PC2 and carries an IP20 degree of protection. Its protected construction is particularly relevant in designs where a replaceable cartridge fuse needs to be incorporated on the PCB whilst restricting accidental access to the fuse-related conductive parts.
The specified contact resistance is less than 5 mΩ. Rated power acceptance is stated as 2.5 W in the general technical data and under EN 60127-6. The manufacturer's technical sheet also provides an ambient-temperature derating graph. The graph indicates that the permissible power remains around its nominal level up to approximately 40 °C and then progressively decreases as ambient temperature rises. This relationship should be considered when designing equipment intended to operate at elevated temperatures.
Its PCB mounting arrangement makes the PTF/45 suitable for integration into power supplies, control electronics, industrial electronic equipment and other electrical devices using a 5 x 20 mm cartridge fuse for circuit protection. Installing the holder directly on the printed circuit board enables the fuse to form part of the internal electrical design without requiring a separate panel-mounted holder where this is not needed.
The PTF/45 5 x 20 mm PCB fuse holder uses a compact vertical configuration. The dimensional drawing supplied on the technical sheet indicates an approximately 10 mm base dimension, a 10 mm upper diameter and an overall height of 33.1 mm. These dimensions are useful when checking PCB layout requirements and the available clearance within an equipment enclosure before incorporating the component into a design.
The standard finish is black, while other colours are stated as being available on request. Combining PCB mounting, 5 x 20 mm fuse compatibility, a 250 VAC rating and shock-safe construction, the PTF/45 is intended for equipment manufacturers, integrators, repair professionals and other users requiring a vertical 250 V PCB fuse holder for replaceable cartridge fuses.
