On September 1, 1945, Wilhelm and Marie Harting founded the company Wilhelm Harting Mechanical Workshops. In a small room of approximately 100 m2 located in a repair shop in Minden, they began to manufacture appliances for everyday use. Initially, these were products for daily use. They made energy-saving light bulbs, prized electric cooktops, electric fence equipment, waffle irons, electric lighters, and clothes irons. The size and scope of his orders increased and the company grew steadily.
Wilhelm Harting, the founder of the company, understood from the beginning that the emerging German industry needed technical products. The commitment of their employees and their innovative ideas helped them achieve the goal of developing a connector that was robust, easy to handle and versatile to apply it to various purposes. Wilhelm Harting had long recognized the need for this type of product.
Shortly thereafter, the Han® connector was launched onto the market with great success and established a globally recognized standard. This connector has been the backbone of the Technology Group throughout its evolution.
With 14 production plants and 44 sales centers around the world, the HARTING Technology Group has established itself as one of the most leading global providers of solutions to connect the three essential supplies of industrial technology: data, signals and power.
The company also manufactures electronic cash registers for retail use, electromagnetic actuators for automotive and industrial series production, charging technology and cables for electric vehicles, and hardware and software for customers and applications in the automation, robotics and transportation.
