The TDA4500 is a small-signal processing integrated circuit developed for monochrome television receivers. It combines the receiver's main small-signal functions in a single device, with the exception of the tuner, reducing the amount of external circuitry required and leaving essentially the output stages external to the IC.
The device processes the intermediate-frequency signal and combines video, sound and synchronisation functions. These include video detection and AFC, intercarrier sound processing, volume control, inter-station sound muting and generation of the drive signals for the horizontal and vertical stages.
It provides a composite video output, a post-volume-control audio output and horizontal and vertical drive outputs. The device is supplied in a plastic DIL-28 / DIP-28 through-hole package with the SOT-117 package designation.
