This 1 + 1.5 µF dual motor capacitor combines two capacitance values in a single enclosure with a shared common connection. It is designed for compatible AC motor and electrical applications and is rated at 450 V AC, with a capacitance tolerance of ±5% and operation at 50/60 Hz.
The capacitor has three colour-coded flying leads. The black lead is the common connection. A capacitance of 1 µF is provided between the black and white leads, whilst a capacitance of 1.5 µF is available between the black and red leads. This arrangement combines two capacitor sections in one component, simplifying wiring and reducing the installation space required compared with using two separate capacitors.
The 1 µF + 1.5 µF, 450 V configuration may be used in compatible single-phase motors, ventilation systems, small electromechanical equipment and other AC circuits specifically designed for these capacitance values. When replacing an existing capacitor, the electrical specifications of the original component and equipment should always be checked.
The specified ±5% tolerance defines the permitted variation from the nominal capacitance values. Correct capacitance is an important consideration in motor circuits, so a replacement component should not be selected solely because it has similar dimensions, appearance or the same number of leads.
Colour-coded wiring helps simplify installation. The black lead provides the common point for both capacitor sections, the white lead corresponds to the 1 µF section and the red lead corresponds to the 1.5 µF section. The wiring arrangement is also marked on the capacitor body, allowing the connections to be checked before installation.
The 450 V AC motor capacitor is enclosed in a compact rectangular plastic housing that protects both capacitor sections. Its compact construction makes it suitable for installation inside motors, ventilation equipment, electrical enclosures and other appliances where space for auxiliary components may be restricted.
The component is specified for operation at 50/60 Hz and carries a 40/85/21 climatic category marking. These specifications provide useful information when identifying a suitable replacement component for electrical maintenance and repair work.
When replacing a 1 + 1.5 µF 450 V dual motor capacitor, the original capacitance values, rated voltage, tolerance and wiring arrangement should be observed. Equipment must be fully isolated from the mains supply and the capacitor safely discharged before servicing, as electrical charge may remain after power has been removed.
